End of July Notes

Next week we will recap and update the month that was July, but this week it’s all about mosquitoes. Our summer hasn’t been too rainy, so you shouldn’t have much standing water to get rid of. If your noticing more than usual mosquito activity in and around your home, it’s time to walk the property and find any standing water. Even a spoonful can be enough for mosquitoes to lay eggs. Bonus tip: LOOK UP, yes, you may have standing water in your gutters. A leafy gutter is a bad gutter so get the leaves out, rinse it out and then the sun can dry it out.
I visited a local garden center and here is a short list of plants that mosquitoes do not like: Lavender, Lemon Grass, Lemon Balm, Citronella, Basil, and Marigolds. Put some of these plants around the doors to your home and that should reduce the likelihood that you will have a hitchhiking mosquito when you come into your home.

MAY THE 4TH BE WITH YOU 2018

Lots going on in May so let’s get to it.  SUPER IMPORTANT—If you are planning on disputing your property taxes in TEXAS the deadline is MAY 15, 2018.  You are correct THIS IS A CHANGE.  Soooo, get your property tax dispute in before MAY 15, 2018 if you want your voice to be heard.  If you need ammunition for your dispute contact me ASAP, I’m glad to help.

You could see this one coming MAY THE 4TH BE WITH YOU.  The unofficial, official, Star Wars holiday is today annnnndddddd it’s Friday, so you can watch ALL the movies tonight and sleep it off tomorrow.  My favorites continue to be the original three.  I would love to hear which movie YOUR favorite is.  I was such a nerd when I was young.  I actually READ the Empire Strikes Back book…not the comic the actual adult book.  I think this might be where my love for reading truly began.  I can’t remember what grade I was in and I don’t want to do the math, but I do know it was a single digit grade☹ I had to read that first chapter at least five times before I understood what was going on.  Prior to that book it was easy reading; Berenstain Bears, Charlie Brown, you know, kid’s stuff.  Reading Empire opened my mind to imagery in a Galaxy Far, Far away.  When you’re watching my attached video listen close to The Empire Strikes Back soundtrack in the background.

Like I said, lots going in May including tons of Graduations:  Shout out to my cousin Shelby, my fraternity brothers, including Zach and many more.  Congratulations on your accomplishment.  I wish you well as you begin your new journey in life.  If I can help, let me know, I am always looking for ways to help people to LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST!!

But wait that’s not all we also have Cinco De Mayo.  Take a moment and say thank you on National Teacher Day, May 8th.  Celebrate your teacher all week long.  Some school districts have moved this day of thanks due to STARR testing so check with your kid’s school.  Remember not all teachers are teaching children and some of your teachers go by other names like MOM so make sure you don’t stack your holidays.  Celebrate MOM twice; National Teacher Day and Mother’s Day, May 13th.  We also have Memorial Day, May 28, a day when we remember those who have give the ultimate sacrifice in defending our country.  This used to be the beginning of summer but now schools don’t let out until June.  I am sure I missed a day or two.

LIKE I SAID…LOTS GOING ON…HAPPY MAY EVERYONE…
