Happy 4TH OF JULY 2020

I have seen the firecracker stores popping up around the rural areas so it kinda feels like the Fourth  of July is almost here, but in a lot of ways it doesn’t. Real Estate in the Houston are is moving, but safely. July is going to be a hot and interesting month. I am hoping that everyone got their property tax dispute filed. The media was too busy talking about Corona to help remind the public and provide a much needed PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT. I hope that you and yours stay safe during the holiday which happens to fall on a Saturday this year, that’s fun. Please reach out to me if I can help you to….

You Should Visit Homes when it’s Raining

A question I get often from home buyers is…”should we cancel our scheduled showings for today, it’s raining?”  My reply comes extremely fast, “NO, this is a perfect time to see your future home.  We have more days of sun than rain, but rain can do more damage so this is a blessing in disguise, let’s go!!!!”  Bottom line, if your saftey is not put at risk, a rainy day visit is a GREAT idea.

Do not put yourself in harms way…do not drive through standing water if you ar not 100% sure that it’s safe.  Also be mindful of tornadoes, hail and lightning.  So if it’s a pop up storm, you might get to see how your home and property reascts to the rain.  Does the water pond in the backyard?  Are you being flooded by the neighbors draining.  Are the streets flooded, for how long.  These are questions you cannot view for yourself on a sunny day.

Preparing to view a home in the rain is a little different and it’s mostly about trying to stay dry.  Rain coat, check, rain boots, check, umbrella check.  Under sunny conditions you would look at the front of the home, pan around to the neighbors and then go in the home.  When it’s raining your going to want to do more walking around the front of the home, viewing where the water is coming off the roof and where does it go from their.  I have actually made paper boats so my clients could visually see where the water is flowing.  Do all of your outside stuff first, then gather at the front door.  Now it’s time to take off your rain boots, your rain coat, collapse your unbrella and leave everything outside.  Yes, leave everything out side.  You do not want to track water or mud through your potential new home.

Let me know if your ready for a rainy day visit, I’m here to help you to…Live Life to the Fullest.  Scott Culberson, Broker Associate, Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Gary Greene, Email-Scott@ScottCulberson.com

DREAM A LITTLE DREAM FOR…THEM

2_use_hear_moon_fotolia_68518813_l

Every night we recharge our batteries for several hours.  No distractions, usually pretty quite and mostly dark.  While this time is important for our minds it is equally important for our bodies.  Comfortable pajamas, soft sheets, maybe a fan overhead on low all help in taking us to dream land.  Do we dream of our wants and desires or run from our insecurities and fears?  I hope we are all shooting for the happy dream and leave our worries on the night stand.

So I am writing in February and I hope that you are dreaming of how to make this Valentines day a special one for your loved one, children or grand children.  No, I’m not going to spin this as a Real Estate Commercial so get that our of your mind now.    I’m looking to help you make your reality better than your dreams.  Take the time now to plan for the future (Valentines day).  A thoughtful gift or gesture cannot be acquired on a whim.  thinking deeply about the one you love and their needs and desires take time.  You could take it a step further like I have…..

In my phone I have a tab in my notes dedicated to gifts.  Nothing fancy, it’s not a special app, I just have a section for Wife, Child 1, Child 2….they each have their own special place.  Throughout the year I take notes on their wants and desires.  It might be laughing about a T.V. commercial, a reaction to a new desert or comment I heard about something they would like to do better.  I compile these notes and use them for birthdays, Christmas and yes Valentines day.  Don’t get me wrong I will always buy chocolate but adding a picture frame with a photo from the trip to the zoo or smore flavored jelly, well those can be the gifts that are remembered for a life time.  After all who wouldn’t enjoy smore flavored jelly?

Happy Valentines day!
